Terms of Service

Last updated: 20 October 2026

1. Who we are

https://www.electronicslounge.co.za (the "Store") is run by Xen Hilpert, trading as Electronics Lounge, a sole proprietor (no company registration number), not registered for VAT. Our address is 15a Kivido Street, Station Hill, Port Alfred, 6170, Eastern Cape. You can reach us at info@electronicslounge.com or +27 79 511 2020. Our full details, as required by ECTA s43, are on our Contact Information page.

Important clauses. Clauses that limit our liability or put risk or responsibility on you are shown in bold, as the CPA (s49) requires. Please read them.

2. Accepting these terms

By using the Store or placing an order, you agree to these Terms, our Returns Policy, our Shipping Policy and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Store.

3. Who can buy

  • You need to be 18 or older, or have the consent of a parent or guardian, to place an order.

4. Products and descriptions

  • We describe our products, specifications, colours and compatibility as accurately as we can, based on information from our suppliers. That doesn't affect your rights if an item is materially different from its description.
  • Colours and images: colours on your screen may vary from the actual item, depending on your device and display settings. Images may show accessories that aren't included; the product page lists what's in the box.
  • Brands and compatibility: unless a product page says otherwise, our products are unbranded or supplier-branded and are not made, endorsed or certified by the makers of the devices they work with. Brand names such as Apple, Samsung or Android are used only to describe compatibility. Please check the compatible models, connector type (for example USB-C or Lightning) and version on the product page before you buy.
  • Plugs, voltage and adapters: South Africa uses 220–240 V mains power. Each mains-powered product page states the plug type supplied. Some items come with a non-South African plug (for example a UK, EU or US plug) and need a South African adapter, which is not included unless stated. Use a good-quality, correctly rated adapter and never use an item on a voltage it isn't rated for. We aren't liable for damage caused by an unsuitable adapter, power source or charger.
  • Batteries: items with lithium batteries must be charged with a suitable charger and used, stored and disposed of according to the instructions. Don't use, charge or post a battery that is swollen, leaking, damaged or overheating. Please recycle batteries and electronic waste at an e-waste drop-off point; don't put them in household rubbish.
  • Wireless products and ICASA: radio and wireless equipment (for example Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, wireless video transmitters, RF remotes and drones) used in South Africa must comply with ICASA type-approval rules. We only make wireless products available for sale once their ICASA type-approval has been confirmed. You are responsible for using wireless products lawfully, for example drone flying rules set by the South African Civil Aviation Authority.
  • Safety: follow the instructions and warnings supplied with each product. Keep small parts, batteries and magnets away from children.

5. Prices and payment

  • All prices are in South African rand (ZAR). We are not registered for VAT, so no VAT is charged. The delivery cost is shown separately at checkout.
  • We accept the payment methods shown at checkout, such as card payments. Payments are processed securely by our payment provider. We never see or store your full card details.
  • Pricing errors (CPA s23(9)): if a price is obviously wrong by an inadvertent and patently erroneous mistake, we are not bound by it. We'll contact you and you can pay the correct price or cancel for a full refund.

6. Orders and contract

  • Your order is an offer to buy. The contract is formed when we email you a confirmation that your order has been accepted, or when we dispatch it, whichever comes first.
  • We may decline or cancel an order (with a full refund) if an item is out of stock, or if we suspect fraud.
  • You can review your order record in your confirmation email and your account.

7. Delivery

Delivery is covered by our Shipping Policy. Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery.

8. Cancellations, returns and warranties

Your ECTA s44 cooling-off right, the CPA's six-month warranty on defective goods (including batteries), exchanges and any exceptions are set out in our Returns Policy, which is part of these Terms. Any manufacturer or supplier warranty is in addition to your CPA rights.

9. Discount codes

Discount codes can't be combined unless stated, and may be withdrawn at any time before an order is placed.

10. Use of the Store

You agree not to misuse the Store, for example by trying to get unauthorised access, introducing malware, scraping content, or placing fraudulent orders. All content on the Store, including text, photos, logos and designs, belongs to Xen Hilpert trading as Electronics Lounge, or its licensors. You may not copy it without permission.

11. Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss (including lost data, lost profits or damage to other devices), or for loss caused by misuse of a product, by not following its instructions or warnings, by using an unsuitable charger, adapter or power source, or by events outside our reasonable control. This does not limit liability that cannot be excluded under the CPA, including liability under s61 for harm caused by unsafe or defective goods, or liability for our gross negligence.

12. Privacy

How we handle your personal information is described in our Privacy Policy, which complies with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

13. Disputes and governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Please contact us first so we can try to sort things out. If we can't, you can approach the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (0860 000 272, www.cgso.org.za) or the National Consumer Commission, or use any other remedy the law gives you. Without limiting your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, any legal proceedings may be brought in the Magistrate's Court for the district of Port Alfred (Ndlambe), Eastern Cape.

14. Changes

We may update these Terms. The version that applies to your order is the one on the Store when you placed it.
